FRS Questions & Answers

Q: I forgot how to log into FRS. How do I log in?
A: Open a TSO 3270 Session
Enter SCTP
Enter twice more
Type 002 for session
Type your OPID
Type your password
Enter
(You are logged into FRS)

Q: What is a TSO 3270 Session?
A: If you get into SIS or HRS already, it is the same icon that you used to get into those two systems. If this is your first time to access a SCT system, it shows up on your computer as a monitor. It looks like one of the icons below:

When clicking on either icon, you will be asked to “Connect” (you click on the Connect button) and then you will see a screen that has “ Oklahoma State University ” and “Enter Application Name” under it. This is where you enter SCTP and continue to log in. If you have neither icon, then you need to contact your systems people to get it installed.

Q: What is an OPID? I'm not sure I have one.
A: An OPID is a four digit number you use to log into the SCT systems whether it be into SIS, FRS or HRS. You can use the same opid for the different systems but you might have different passwords for each system. See Question 8 on how to have the same password for all three systems. If you have gone through FRS training, you have an opid (and password).

Q: I can't keep the systems straight. Can you list those for me so I can write them down to remember them?
A: Sure. System 001 is SIS. System 002 is FRS. System 003 is HRS. Each system has its own administrator and only a FRS administrator can fix FRS SCT or eprint problems.

Q: What if I forget my FRS password? Who do I contact?
A: On the Global Address List, select Security, Frs and email your password request. If you can't find the Global Address List, email your password request to frs.security@okstate.edu .

Q: I can't get into eprint. It says “ Authorization failed, please try again .” What do I do?
A: You need to check and see if your FRS password has expired. Your eprint access is keyed on an active FRS password. If your FRS password expires, you lose eprint access until your FRS password is changed and is fed over to eprint (a nightly process).

Log onto FRS.

If when you enter your password and you get a password change screen, then your password has expired and you need to create a new one. Once you have created a new password, you won't be able to access eprint until the next morning. FRS passwords are loaded at night into security. FRS passwords last 120 days from the day you created it.

If when you enter your password and you get into FRS, then it may be your browser has an old FRS password saved. Select the eprint log in screen ( http://eprint.okstate.edu/cgi-bin/eprint.cgi ), type in your opid and then type in your FRS password over the asterisks in the Password box. Select the repository you wanted to get in and hit ENTER. If this doesn't work, contact your systems people for help and/or email Security, Frs .

NOTE: Always check your FRS password on SCT before you contact Security, Frs . By doing so, it gives us a better idea of how to approach your connectivity problem.

Q: There's a “ Change Password ” command on the eprint logon screen. I tried to change my password and it didn't work. What's the deal?
A: That is correct. As stated previously, the only way to change your eprint password is to change your FRS password because they are one and the same.

Q: How can I keep all these passwords straight?
A: Great question! One way to keep them all straight is to change them at the first of each month. Sure it takes a little time but you will never have to worry about when this or that password is going to expire and remembering one password is much easier compared to remembering five or six.

To change your password in FRS, type PWC on the SCREEN:___ line. This will bring up the Password Change screen.

Q: When I enter my password, the cursor drops to the Sign Off line. What am I doing wrong?
A: Nothing. Your password is eight digits long and once you key your whole password the cursor just drops to the next field which happens to be the Sign Off line. If you have entered everything properly, you just need to hit enter to get into FRS.

Q: Who are the security contacts for FRS ( 002 system)?
A: The preferred method of contact is through email to the Security, Frs mailbox instead of an individual person. By sending your request to the mailbox, security personnel will have a record of your request and your request will be addressed by others if someone is gone.

FRS (002) - Mailbox – Security, Frs frs.security@okstate.edu

NOTE: PLEASE include the opid and email address for whom you are requesting service. It helps speed up our response time.
